Fishing Report 5.17.21
Runoff is almost in full force. With the dirty water coming out of the Hoback and into the Snake south of town, your best bet is to head north and fish the Dam to Pacific stretch. Water should be clear with action being underneath the surface and maybe some dry fly action on a cloudy day. Try throwing streamers, worm patterns, and Pat’s Rubber Legs. The Snake is flowing at 845cfs up at Moran, 4790cfs at Flat Creek and 6770cfs at the whitewater stretch. Get out there before runoff really gets going!
Over on the South Fork, flows are settled around 11500 - 12800cfs. You’ll see action below the surface again with streamers, worms, Pat’s Rubber Legs and nymphs.
The Henrys will be you best bet for some consistent dry fly fishing. The water is lower than normal but it is clear with beautiful weather in the forecast this week! Salmonflies are on the move but we still have a couple weeks. Baetis are hanging around along with caddis. Pat’s Rubber Legs, Jojo Baetis and OCD Caddis should be productive on the Henrys.
Flows have been up and down on the Green so finding good fishing is iffy
and variable throughout the day.
